diy solid perfume

Let’s prepare it at home

Raise your hand if you have never wanted to be able to carry your favorite perfume with you! Everywhere… without occupying an immense space in your bag or risking to end up with the contents of the bottles completely overturned…

Many companies solved the first issue by putting in commerce purse perfumes, small vials that allow us to have little amounts of our favorite fragrance always with us. But…how to avoid the risk of “breakage”? Or… what if we wanted to “create” our own personal fragrance?

The answer is: solid perfume! Based on vegetal oils and natural waxes, the solid perfume, because of its texture, is handy and small in size, it’s easy to prepare and, above all, we can customize it the way prefer.

But let’s get to the point and find out how to prepare it at home.

What we need:

  • 1.5g beeswax
  • 3 g shea butter
  • 4.5g sweet almond oil
  • 10 drops of your favourite essential oil (I used ylang ylang, with the addition of two drops of sweet orange and lemon)
  • 1 g vitamin E

First of all, melt the beeswax in a bain-marie. Then add the shea butter. Once wax and butter are melted and mixed, add the sweet almond oil and remove the container we are working in from the heat source (sweet almond oil is heat sensitive so we have to be very careful in this step not to expose it to high temperatures). Once the mixture of oils and wax has slightly cooled, add the drops of essential oil and vitamin E, which will act as a preservative. Mix carefully and pour into the container we have chosen. Let it solidify and… our perfume is ready!
